INTRODUCTION Howling winds stormy skies, regular visits from a certain Mr J Frost and a warm fire crackling in the living room, the forces of nature have converged; to tell you to its is time to bead. But seriously though with winter school vacation around the corner, it could be a great time to bring the kids along to Bead Merchants. As usual we have our regular classes geared towards the younger beader during the vacation period and naturally we would be happy to take your little rug rats off your hands for few hours. You can pass it off as expanding their artistic horizons…. We only recently established our new LOGO BEADS department which specializes in designing and making beaded logo’s; perfectly suited to your company or that special function you’ve been planning for sooooo long, simply peruse our new LOGO BEADS heading below. |

Bead Merchants of Africa, Long Street WHOLESALE We have reintroduced the popular Beaders Tool Kit, this handy little ensemble contains (2) flat nose pliers, (1) round nose plier, (1) wire cutter, (1) bead reamer, (1) tweezers and specialized ruler (6 items).
We’ve also taken delivery of a fresh shipment of seed (not those seeds…! leave the 60’s thoughts now) seed beads in different colours and sizes. Also making a comeback on our fashion runway are; Looms, French kni(ckers)tters, spinners, bead caps and a variety of findings; back on our shelves. REALLY great quality
Glass Beads Fine Twist Beading Needle New Acrylic Glue Also, you can now stop looking for that mercerized crochet yarn for your beading projects; Available in white, cream, green, peach, black and blue: works up beautifully in the French knitter, spinner as well as crochet projects. RETAIL In our Retail department we recently unpacked a shipment of large and small flower shaped beads in rose quartz, mother of pearl and amethyst. There are also large faceted pendants in onyz, rose quartz, amethyst and crystal. For the feng shui fundi we added metal castings in coin shapes and intricate designs. That’s it… money for sale, now the question is whether you like big or small money. And as an after thought there are new bronze and copper spacers on the shelves. And for that stunning young princess who really wants to sparkle we have gold dust and fairy glitter which can be used in craft, deco and (our personal favorite) body glitter!! Simply pop in and view the wide variety of new beads for yourself. THE GALLERY, LONG STREET We have all come to expect beauty in all its guises from the Gallery, and they continue to validate that faith with their beautiful jewelry ranges and contemporary and religious icons artists’ prints on wood; some with gold leaf detail and strung on wooden beads from ‘IKONA’. On the lighter side Gallery also offers tailor marked playful wire crafted words adorned with seed beads. Words such as love, faith, hope, inspire and lekker are proving to be most popular. The Gallery has beautiful bags in jewel colours made from suede and nappa leather with crochet detail, sling handles and bag ornament. These are at once stylish and funky. CRYSTAL EYES, LONG STREET Crystal Eyes, Long street is bursting at the seams with colour this winter and its all over the colour spectrum with chrysol dorado, mocca, sand opal, emerald and capri blue and last but definitely not least indicolite. Caramba, then there is also the interesting cosmic triangle crystal as well as coral pendants. And lastly don't forget the kits on offer, now you can make that perfect present for all occasions, with your own hands. |

TIP OF THE MONTH Make your own colour swatch, Simply string a single colour of beads on a safety pin. Make a small label for the colour number and attach it to the other side of the pin. Then slide the loop end of the pin onto a key ring component. This is easy to carry either in or on your bag or even wear it around your neck. (Cobus to photograph) Untangling knots To remove knots from nylon thread or cord you will need two sewing pins. Pierce the centre of the knot with one pin and pick at it with the other pin. Jiggle the pins apart and the knot should untie quickly.
